1986 Ducati 750 Montjuich

1986 Ducati 750 Montjuich

This 1986 Ducati 750 Montjuich (#158/200) is available for purchase from AMS Ducati Dallas. It has 648 original miles on the clock and is in excellent original condition. It is probably the most perfect example of a original Montjuich in existence. It has been featured in multiple Ducati coffee table books and was previously owned by Guy Webster.

The 750 F1 Montjuich was first announced after the Milan Show in 1985, on the heels of the great racing success Ducati achieved on the Montjuich Park circuit in Barcelona, Spain. The Montjuich entered the market in 1986, and was known as the F1 special. A rare and highly collectible model of which only 200 were produced and subsequently numbered. With only 20 bikes exported to the United States, 11 are currently known to exist.

Building from the F1, design advancements such as an aluminum swing arm, gas tank and Marvis Akront magnesium/aluminum wheels lowered the overall weight 44lbs from the standard F1 model. The 750 Montjuich also distinguished its racing prowess through significant engine modifications. Enlarged inlet ports and carbs met hotter cams as enlarged crankcases housed a stronger gearbox and internals. Managing the increased power and decreased weight befit a Marzochhi / Forcella suspension stopped by state of the art Brembo Gold Series Calipers. A pinnacle example of Italian design and pedigree.

In his Illustrated Ducati Buyer’s Guide, Mick Walker says: “If you find, or already own, an F1 my advice is to hang on to it. If you are doubly lucky to have been able to afford one of the ‘limited edition’ models, then guard it with your life, for you have a real classic of the future. Any one of the Montjuich, Laguna Seca or Santamonica models is worth five full stars, for they are both beautiful and rare.”

The Ducati 750 F1 was a Fabio Taglioni designed motorcycle built by Ducati from 1985 to 1988. It earned continued notoriety through the limited production of the Montjuich (200 units) Laguna Seca (296 units) and Santamonica (204 units) models. The race spec 750 TT1 in 1984, a larger version of the previous 600 TT2 in 1981 and later smaller capacity, the Ducati 350 F3 / 400 F3 remain celebrated versions by the Italian manufacturer.
