The TechSpec pads are easy to apply and don't seem to wear out very easily. My Alpinestars racing suit knee grips (the same ones used on the Race Replica suits that are worn by Stoner, Pedrosa, and Lorenzo) mark the tank a little, so I can tell that the TechSpec pads are still too small. They offered to redesign it if someone sends them a new template.
It could be just me, but it also seems like the matte tanks on the new Monsters are more slippery than other tanks, and the ergos on the new Monsters, although more upright than most bikes, still tend to push the rider forward. For guys, suffice it to say that this is bad news bears for your naughty bits. The TechSpecs not only alleviate all of that, but they also make it much easier to move around on the bike for more technical riding, should you require it.
Installation is super easy. If you know how to apply a sticker, then you're golden; if you don't, then you probably shouldn't be riding a motorcycle. I've had these installed for about a year now and there are no signs of wear (commuting several times a week along with weekend rides) and no signs of them coming unstuck. They're cut to generally follow the lines of the tank, and while they don't look amazing on a non-black bike, they don't really detract from the design either. These are well worth it.
